A Build & Test run on #128 stalled after DockStoreTests for about 20 minutes with no output (it passed on rerun). The job had no timeout, so the runner was held until it was cancelled by hand.

  • If swift test is still running after 10 minutes (a normal run takes a few), the Test step samples every xctest process into the log, so the hung test is identifiable.
  • It then kills the stalled run and runs the suite once more.
  • The step is capped at 30 minutes.

A genuine test failure still fails the step on the first run; only a stall gets a second run.

A Build & Test run on #128 stalled after DockStoreTests for 20 minutes
with nothing logged, and the job's default timeout is six hours. After
10 quiet minutes the step now samples xctest into the log, so the hung
test can be found, and runs the suite once more.
