   One hacky workaround would be:

       fn store(&mut self, val: Self::Value, ptr: Self::Value, _align: Align) -> Self::Value {
           if let SpirvType::Pointer { pointee } = self.lookup_type(val.ty) && let SpirvType::Void = self.lookup_type(pointee) { 
               return val;
           }
