Summary

  • CookingFoodApi lets other plugins build Cooking food, carved roasts and milk at a star rating, read an item's stars, and add food with Cooking stacking. Husbandry now builds its products through it, so there is one implementation.
  • husbandry.yml enabled (default true, so nothing changes). With false, Cooking opens no husbandry.db, registers no animal listeners, tasks or estate participant, frees /animals and /livestock, and /cooking husbandry reports that husbandry is disabled. It is read at startup; /cooking reload only warns that a restart is needed.

Documentation impact

  • Central Cooking documentation: no change yet. The husbandry guide moves to BreedingBuddies with that plugin.

Contract

  • Affected behavior: none while enabled: true (the default, also when the key is missing). With enabled: false, Cooking runs no livestock; BreedingBuddies will use that next season.
  • Tests run: mvn verify (1195 tests, 100% line coverage) with -Duser.language=en. Two tests on main fail under a Spanish locale (12,5 vs 12.5); that is unrelated to this change.
  • Player wiki: no change.
  • Still to check on TF Dev: freeing /animals on Paper so BreedingBuddies can register it.

Notes

  • Config source is src/main/resources. Do not edit target/.

📝 Summary

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features

    • Added a setting to disable husbandry at startup, freeing animal commands and integrations for use by other plugins.
    • Added a public API for creating cooking foods, roasts and milk items, checking item quality, and adding items to player inventories.
  • Bug Fixes

    • Husbandry commands now report when the feature is disabled instead of attempting to spawn or save animals.
    • Reloading no longer changes husbandry’s startup state; a warning is shown if the configured value differs.

The pull request adds a startup configuration switch for husbandry and gates related startup and command behaviour on that setting. It also adds a public food API and updates husbandry code to use it for item construction and quality lookup.

Changes: Husbandry and food API

Layer / File(s) Summary
Husbandry configuration and startup
src/main/resources/husbandry.yml, src/main/java/net/tfminecraft/cooking/husbandry/HusbandryConfig.java, src/main/java/net/tfminecraft/cooking/husbandry/HusbandryLoader.java, src/main/java/net/tfminecraft/cooking/Cooking.java, src/main/java/net/tfminecraft/cooking/manager/CommandManager.java, src/test/java/net/tfminecraft/cooking/CookingLifecycleTest.java, src/test/java/net/tfminecraft/cooking/husbandry/HusbandryLoaderCoverageTest.java, src/test/java/net/tfminecraft/cooking/manager/CommandManagerCoverageTest.java
The enabled setting defaults to true and is read at startup. When husbandry is disabled, startup skips husbandry database, identity, listener and task setup, and releases /animals. Commands report that husbandry is disabled. Reload warns when the configured value differs from the startup value.
Food construction API
src/main/java/net/tfminecraft/cooking/api/CookingFoodApi.java, src/test/java/net/tfminecraft/cooking/api/CookingFoodApiTest.java
CookingFoodApi adds methods to build food, roast and milk items, read clamped quality, and add items to a player inventory. Tests cover construction, quality lookup and inventory addition.
Husbandry food and quality integration
src/main/java/net/tfminecraft/cooking/husbandry/HusbandryHarvest.java, src/main/java/net/tfminecraft/cooking/husbandry/HusbandryFeedQuality.java, src/test/java/net/tfminecraft/cooking/api/CookingFoodApiTest.java, src/test/java/net/tfminecraft/cooking/husbandry/HusbandryProductsTest.java
HusbandryHarvest delegates milk and roast construction to CookingFoodApi. HusbandryFeedQuality uses the API to read quality. The milk-food string helpers and their test are removed.

Merge Risk: ⚪ Minimal · up to 05f14

The change is mergeable after normal checks. A positive-cut roast assertion would strengthen coverage but does not block the current behavior.

Other plugins can build Cooking food, carved roasts and milk at a star
rating, read an item's stars and add food with Cooking stacking.
Husbandry now builds its products through the same API.

husbandry.yml enabled: false leaves animals to another plugin: Cooking
opens no animal database, registers no animal listeners or tasks, frees
/animals and /livestock, and /cooking husbandry says it is disabled.
It is read at startup; a reload only warns that a restart is needed.

Add a positive-cut assertion for CookingFoodApi.buildRoast.

The current test passes -4, which buildRoast clamps to zero. It does not detect a regression that ignores a positive meatCuts value. The direct CarvableRoastUtils.portion tests do not cover this API boundary, and HusbandryHarvest.buildFood passes its configured positive request through this method without asserting the resulting roast state.

Add a positive-request test for CookingFoodApi.buildRoast that calls it with a
positive meatCuts value and asserts the resulting roast state reflects that
request. Keep the existing negative-cut clamping test; the new test should
independently verify that positive values are honoured through the API.
