  • Projects whose folder was moved or deleted logged a ProjectFaviconResolutionError warning with a full stack trace every time metadata enrichment ran, which buries real problems in the server log.
  • A missing folder is an expected state for a project, not a fault worth warning about, so it is no longer logged. It still fails rather than resolving to no favicon, so a recreated folder picks up its icon right away instead of waiting out a cached miss.

PR Summary

Low Risk
Logging-only behavior for an expected missing-folder case; favicon resolution still fails and real resolver errors continue to warn.

Overview
Stops noisy favicon enrichment warnings when a project’s workspace directory was moved or deleted—an expected state, not a resolver fault.

ProjectFaviconResolver exports isMissingWorkspaceRoot, which recognizes ProjectFaviconResolutionError from normalize-workspace whose cause is WorkspaceRootNotExistsError.

ProjectEnrichmentService’s favicon worker uses that check to skip logFailure for those exits; other favicon failures still emit the existing warning with stack traces. Resolution still fails (not treated as “no icon”), so a recreated folder can pick up its favicon without waiting on a cached null miss.

A new effect test captures logger output and asserts one warning for a real favicon failure (/broken) and none for a missing root (/missing).

📝 Walkthrough

Walkthrough

The favicon resolver now returns null when the workspace root does not exist. Tests also verify that a workspace root pointing to an existing file still produces a wrapped normalization error.

The resolver returns null before favicon discovery when the workspace root does not exist. Tests cover this result and verify that an existing file used as the root produces a wrapped WorkspaceRootNotDirectoryError.

A recreated workspace may briefly appear without its favicon. The effect is bounded by the cache expiry, but should be addressed before merging.

Explanation

The description identifies the problem, but it contradicts the change summary: the implementation returns a cacheable no-icon result when the workspace root is missing. It also omits the required scope rationale or approval and focused verification results.

Resolution

Correct the description to state that a missing workspace root resolves to a cacheable no-icon result, while other workspace errors remain errors. Add the scope rationale or link to maintainer approval, and describe the focused tests run and their results.

ProjectFaviconResolver so a missing workspace root remains distinct from a
successful no-favicon result and is not cached by either the resolver or
enrichment cache. Preserve successful Option.none results for existing
workspaces without a favicon so ordinary negative caching remains intact.
