404 error when logging in #850

Description

@benthomas-carsales

Describe the bug
I can't sign in with my Apple ID. The UI shows a 404 error.

The bug is reproducible on multiple Macs.

It appears that the app is sending this request:
curl -H "Host: appstoreconnect.apple.com" -H "accept: /" -H "user-agent: Xcodes/40 CFNetwork/3860.700.1 Darwin/25.6.0" -H "priority: u=3" -H "accept-language: en-AU,en;q=0.9" "https://appstoreconnect.apple.com/olympus/v1/app/config?hostname=itunesconnect.apple.com"

And the response is:

    @sakiyamaK

    Root cause and a fix: Apple stopped serving olympus/v1/app/config, which
    XcodesLoginKit uses to fetch the X-Apple-Widget-Key. Client.fetchServiceKey has no
    fallback, so the 404 surfaces before any credentials are sent — it is unrelated to account
    or password state.

    The rest of olympus is fine (/olympus/v1/session still returns 401 Unauthenticated),
    and federate, signin/init and signin/complete all still return JSON. Only
    app/config is gone, and changing hostname does not help.

    The same key is still embedded as widgetKey in the Developer portal sign-in page.
    Reading it from there restores sign-in: I built the xcodes CLI with that change, signed
    in with 2FA, and installed Xcode 27.0 RC end to end.

    PR against XcodesLoginKit: XcodesOrg/XcodesLoginKit#5

    Note this affects the GUI app too, since 4.0.5 depends on the same code path.

    Having the same issue. Looking forward to fix release!

    @KaranocaVe

    Should release a fix version quickly.
    Completely unavailable now

    @NSExceptional

    Does XcodesOrg/XcodesLoginKit#6 also fix it not showing Xcode 27 as an available download?

  6. jabou commented on Sep 14, 2026

    @jabou

    @NSExceptional I can see Xcode 27 in version 4.0.5. Check if you have the Architecture filter set to "Universal," as Xcode 27 is Apple Silicon only (not Universal). Changing that filter to "Apple Silicon" should show it.

    @sakiyamaK, any ETA on when we can expect a new macOS app update using this fix? Just checking if this will be available before the official release today or should I download that one version from the Apple website 😊

    New releases are out with the 404 fixes.

    Thanks for everyone's patience.
