Argus AI PR review crashes in claude-code-action before reading the diff #41
The AI PR Review (Argus) workflow (.github/workflows/ai-review.yml) crashes before it reads the diff. It failed 3 times across two heads of #40 (runs 38502632515 and 38503230394), so it isn't specific to that PR. The job still reports success, so the failure is easy to miss.
From run 38503230394, step anthropics/claude-code-action@787c5a0c (v1):
Running Claude Code via SDK (full output hidden for security)...
SDK execution error: ... this.baseURL=X.baseURL, ... this.apiKey ... (Anthropic client constructor)
error: Claude Code process exited with code 1
Internal error: directory mismatch for directory ".../claude-code-action/787c5a0c.../tsconfig.json", fd 4
##[error]Action failed with error: SDK execution error: Error: Claude Code process exited with code 1
The crash is inside the Anthropic client constructor, about 0.3s after start. ANTHROPIC_API_KEY is present (masked) in the step env, so this doesn't look like a missing secret. The directory mismatch line is a Bun runtime internal error from the action's own bundle.
Notes
This is the only SDK repo using claude-code-action for PR review. The others use the org reviewer, which ran fine on the same night's PRs.
The workflow passes --model claude-opus-4-7; worth checking that model ID and the pinned action version are still valid together.
Suggested next step
Bump the claude-code-action pin, check the model argument, and make a failed review step fail the job (or post a visible comment) so a silent no-review doesn't look like a pass.
