AwareRide Community Hub πŸš΄β€β™‚οΈπŸ’‘

Welcome to the AwareRide community repository! This is the central workspace for global discussions, feedback, feature proposals, architectural RFCs, and community governance across the entire AwareRide ecosystem.

Whether you are a developer, cyclist, hardware enthusiast, data enthusiast, or rider safety advocate, we welcome your involvement!

πŸ’¬ GitHub Discussions

We use GitHub Discussions as our primary forum for open conversation. Before posting, please follow these simple guidelines so your topic gets the attention it deserves:

Before you post

  1. Search first β€” check for an existing discussion on the same topic before starting a new one. You can search by keywords, category, or filtered views directly on the Discussions page.
  2. Pick the right category β€” each forum below has a specific purpose. Choosing the correct one gets your post to the right audience faster.
  3. Write a clear title & body β€” use a descriptive title and provide enough context (steps to reproduce, screenshots, versions, expected vs. actual behaviour) so others can help without a long back-and-forth.
  4. Be kind β€” follow our Code of Conduct. Respectful, constructive conversation keeps this community welcoming for everyone.

Categories

Choose the category that best fits your topic:

  • πŸ“’ Announcements β€” Official updates, releases, and news from the AwareRide team. Read-only thread: only the AwareRide team posts here.
  • πŸ’‘ Ideas & Feature Requests β€” Propose new ideas, sensors, UI/UX tweaks, or integrations. Add the [feature-request] prefix to your title when you are proposing a new capability. Upvote (β €) existing ideas you support so the team sees which come up most.
  • πŸ™‹ Q&A β€” Get help with installation, hardware setups, APIs, or troubleshooting. Mark the accepted answer when your question is resolved so it stays useful for future riders.
  • πŸ“ RFCs (Request for Comments) β€” Technical discussions regarding core architecture, protocols, and data schemas. Before major code changes, an RFC is the place to design and get feedback. See CONTRIBUTING.md.
  • πŸ™Œ Show & Tell β€” Share your custom AwareRide builds, mounts, field tests, and rider setups! Include photos or short video clips to bring your setup to life.
  • πŸ’¬ General β€” Free-form discussion about cycling safety technology and connected mobility that doesn't fit the categories above.

Getting the most out of participating

  • Tags & labels β€” Use descriptive tags (e.g. hardware, sensor, app, api) to make your post findable. Filters on the Discussions page let everyone narrow by category, label, or answered state.
  • Watch πŸ‘ β€” "Watch" the discussions you care about (bell icon) to get notified of replies.
  • Replies & acknowledgement β€” The team and community reply asynchronously. Questions tend to be answered fastest when they're specific and complete.

πŸ›  How to Contribute

We encourage contributions across all our repositories! Before participating, please review our core community guidelines:

  1. Read our Code of Conduct to keep our community welcoming and safe.
  2. Check out our Contributing Guidelines for technical setup and submission guidelines.
  3. For architectural changes or major additions, start an RFC in Discussions before submitting code.
