feat(ui): a Baselines page and a device's baseline - #1245
Implement: done Review: complete (2 rounds; ADR 0061 flip 519e2c0 verified by adr-flip-check) Hardware: deferred to the stack's final run (maintainer, 2026-11-03) Gate: waiting for the stack
Next: full slow lane on the stack top once the Mac is idle; then the maintainer decides the merge
An operator leases a device, installs an app on it, and saves it as a baseline. The lease ends. simlock baseline list shows it with its platform, model, OS, mode, version and size. — fast tests in feat(baselines): save, list and remove baselines from held leases #1235 (dispatcher, CLI); on real devices: e2e/slow-baseline.test.ts, written, not yet run (the stack's final hardware run)
simlock lease --platform <platform> --baseline <name> is granted a device with that app installed. The agent installs nothing. — fast tests in feat(leasing): a lease names a baseline and gets a copy of it #1236; on real devices: e2e/slow-baseline.test.ts, not yet run (final hardware run)
After that lease is released, the next lease naming the baseline gets a device with the app installed and without any file or setting the previous lease changed. — fast tests in feat(leasing): a lease names a baseline and gets a copy of it #1236 (fake driver copies); on real devices: e2e/slow-baseline.test.ts iOS and Android file steps, not yet run (final hardware run)
A lease with no baseline never receives a device made from one, and a lease naming one never receives a plain device or another baseline's device, even while one sits idle. — feat(leasing): a lease names a baseline and gets a copy of it #1236 "devices never cross pools" test
A --baseline with a model, OS, mode or image tag the baseline was not made for fails at once, naming the mismatch. An unknown name fails at once. A stale baseline fails at once, naming why. — feat(leasing): a lease names a baseline and gets a copy of it #1236 dispatcher and domain tests (BASELINE_MISMATCH, UNKNOWN_BASELINE, BASELINE_STALE)
pnpm exec vitest run --project unit ui/src/model/baselines.test.ts ui/src/app/routes.test.ts ui/src/state/queries.test.ts passes. — run by the build and the audit (24/24)
pnpm test:console --project=chromium e2e/console/baselines.spec.ts e2e/console/shell.spec.ts e2e/console/views.spec.ts e2e/console/long-lists.spec.ts e2e/console/sign-in.spec.ts e2e/console/proxy-sign-in.spec.ts e2e/console/inbox.spec.ts passes. — run by the build and the audit (88 passed); the R2 fix run reran baselines.spec.ts
pnpm test:console --project=chromium e2e/console/big-fleet.spec.ts passes, in its own command (about 62 s per page, eight pages). — run by the audit in its own command (8.3 min)
The sidebar shows Baselines in the Operate group after Queue, in routes.ts, ui/AGENTS.md and DESIGN.md alike. — audit; ui/src/app/routes.test.ts
website/src/content/docs/docs/worker/console.mdx has a Baselines section and the drawer's Baseline fact; fleet-console.mdx says the gateway adds the Worker column. — claims review rounds 1 and 2
The console adds a read-only Baselines page with formatted, paged baseline rows, gateway worker labels, and stale status. Baseline save, removal, and stale events invalidate baseline data, with polling as a fallback. Device drawers show a baseline name and version when available. The change also updates navigation, documentation, and automated coverage.
Suggested reviewers:leonardoxr
Severity of issue fixed: Low
Merge Risk: Low · up to 519e2
The new page can be difficult to read on tablets and may not distinguish identically named workers. These are bounded usability issues suitable for follow-up.
Security architecture risk: Minimal · up to 519e2
This adds read-only baseline visibility without adding permissions or device-management actions. The inspected authentication and cleanup controls remain in place, and no material security risk introduced by this change was identified.
Retained concerns
No architecture-level concerns identified.
Security review details
Security Blast Radius
observed — The metadata scope can include every worker represented by a gateway: the existing baseline-list contract returns worker-qualified entries. The console presents that existing scope; it does not add an API for reading baseline image contents or mutating devices.
Trust Boundaries and Controls
observed — The new reads traverse the shared API client, which sends same-origin credentials and the current bearer token when present. Existing HTTP handlers authenticate requests and pass the resulting identity into dispatcher sessions; the new hook does not supply its own identity or bypass those handlers.
Resilience and Maintainability Implications
observed — Ordinary connection loss can retain current-session display data. Checking, signed-out, and ended session states remove the live provider, whose cleanup disposes queries and the connection; query disposal clears cached data. These existing transitions also govern the new baseline view.

Explanation
The title "feat(ui): a Baselines page and a device's baseline" matches the main change. The changeset adds a console Baselines page (BaselinesScreen, routes, state, and model) and shows a device's baseline in the device drawer and DeviceRow. The title is specific and follows a conventional commit style.
Full details: Description check
Explanation
The description links issue #1209 and gives a detailed status for the Baselines work. It lists completion conditions, test commands, and a review summary. It describes the console Baselines page, the device drawer baseline fact, the sidebar placement, and the documentation updates, all of which appear in the changeset.
Full details: Linked Issues check
Explanation
The changes satisfy the coding requirements in [#1209]. They add /baselines, the Baselines sidebar route after Queue, baseline row mapping, sorting, formatting, stale status, pagination, and the No baselines. state. The page shows the Worker column only in gateway mode. Baseline events invalidate the query, and polling provides the fallback refresh. The device drawer shows Baseline only for baseline-backed devices. The PR adds model, event, page, route, and end-to-end tests. It also updates the worker and gateway documentation.
Full details: Out of Scope Changes check
Explanation
The changes stay within [#1209]. The added UI code, tests, navigation updates, event mapping, polling, and console documentation directly support the requested Baselines page and device drawer fact. The ADR status update documents the baseline architecture and does not change runtime behavior. The fleet pagination test update supports the added console route. No lease or device-management behavior changes are shown.

Key baseline rows by worker ID.
35-35: Minor · Functional Correctness · Quick win
Key baseline rows by worker ID.
If two workers share a label and each has a baseline with the same name, workerOf produces the same display name for both. Line 35 then gives both rows the same key. DataTable uses that key as its row ID and React key, so updates can reuse the wrong row identity. Build the key from entry.workerId and entry.name; keep the label for display and sorting. The gateway already supplies the worker ID, and worker labels are not constrained to be unique. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

Review comment at @ui/src/model/baselines.ts at line 35:
Update the baseline row key to combine entry.workerId with entry.name instead of
the worker display label and name; keep the display label for rendering and
sorting.
Use the wide layout for Baselines.
38-45: Minor · Functional Correctness · Quick win
Use the wide layout for Baselines.
The table remains in its fixed multi-column layout from 768px through 1099px, where ten or eleven columns can be difficult to scan. This does not violate the 360px no-sideways-scroll requirement, but wide enables the intended labelled-row layout for tablet widths.

Update the Baselines DataTable in the component rendering page.rows to enable
its wide layout, preserving the existing label, columns, and other table props.
Show a distinguishing identifier when worker labels collide.
55-60: Minor · Functional Correctness · Quick win
Show a distinguishing identifier when worker labels collide.
Worker labels are not unique. When two gateway workers use the same label, the Worker column shows the same value for both workers and hides their IDs. Include the worker ID for duplicate labels so an operator can identify the worker that holds each baseline.

Review comment at @ui/src/model/baselines.ts around lines 55 - 60:
Update workerOf to distinguish workers with duplicate labels: when the matching
worker’s label is shared by another worker, include its ID in the displayed
value. Preserve the current ID fallback for unknown workers and the existing
label display when labels are unique.
