What this adds

  • An MCP path in the Agentic Check migration guide, for every plan. Anyone can replace an Agentic Check with their own AI agent connected to the Checkly MCP Server. Trial, Starter, Team and Enterprise plans can also use the AI Assistant. There's an example prompt, and a hint to map {{VARIABLE_NAME}} references to process.env in the Browser Check script.
  • In-product steps for paid plans. The AI Assistant steps use the new Copy prompt and Open AI assistant buttons on the Agentic Check page.
  • A note for CLI-managed checks. Projects that manage the Agentic Check with the Checkly CLI replace the AgenticCheck construct in code; changes made in the app or through MCP are overwritten by the next deploy.
  • Corrected AI invocation wording on the migration, automatic repair and Rocky AI pages. Each AI Assistant conversation now uses one invocation when it first runs. "Initialize from saved check" and MCP check creation still use none.

Decisions worth a look

  • The two paths are framed by availability: the MCP Server works on every plan, and paid plans can also use the AI Assistant. The MCP path comes first because everyone has it; it's the only path on Hobby.
  • The shared "verify and switch over" steps (run, enable automatic repair, deactivate) apply to both paths. Checks created through MCP have no intent, so the automatic repair step says to select Initialize from saved check first.

Merge order

Merge after checkly/monorepo#4304 deploys. That PR adds the Copy prompt and Open AI assistant buttons and gives paid plans the AI Assistant. The invocation wording is already accurate today.

Hobby accounts don't include the AI Assistant, so they replace Agentic Checks
with their own AI agent connected to the Checkly MCP Server. The guide now
covers both paths, uses the in-product Copy prompt and Open AI assistant
buttons, and tells CLI-managed projects to replace the construct in code.

AI Assistant conversations now use one AI invocation when they first run, so
the usage notes on the migration, automatic repair and Rocky AI pages say so.

… guide [AI-557]

Every plan can migrate with its own AI agent and the Checkly MCP Server; paid
plans can also use the AI Assistant. Lead with the path everyone has.
