perf(pt): fold radial hidden projection into the degree-mixer weight at inference (DP_RADIAL_HEAD_PACKED_INFER) - #6108
Because the up-projection and the degree-mixing weight are both frozen at inference, their product can be precomputed once: the chain collapses to a single cuBLAS call kc = x_flat @ W_eff with a folded 128 x 25 weight, plus one small l = 0 slice projection (E,32) @ (32,64). No custom kernel is involved — the win is purely algebraic and every GEMM stays in cuBLAS.
The fold sits behind DP_RADIAL_HEAD_PACKED_INFER (default off, zero drift on the default path). Packed weights are built by a _pack_radial_weights() einsum at eval time and cached; when the freeze/pt2 prepare hook never ran (the load-checkpoint-then-evaluate flow), dispatch packs lazily on first use, mirroring the existing _pack_weights fallback pattern.
Why not a fused Triton kernel (tried first, negative)
A fused up-project+mix Triton kernel measured 6.49 ms vs 3.07 ms for the two-step aten chain at the production shape (E=647170). The chain is ~19 GFLOP of fp32 and runs compute-bound on cuBLAS SIMT (~14 TFLOPs); Triton ieee small dots reach 4-5 TFLOPs, so the saved bandwidth cannot pay for the lost compute. The algebraic fold keeps cuBLAS and removes the traffic instead.

Accuracy
float64 identity of the fold: max diff 1e-15 (it is the same linear map).
fp32 reassociation: ~5e-6 (within the established noise floor).
end-to-end two-state forces over 8 frames: max |dF| relative 2.5e-6 (noise floor).
serialize() dict: byte-identical sha256 across both flag states (weights are untouched; only the inference dispatch changes).
Tests
5 new cases in source/tests/pt/model/test_descriptor_sezm_triton.py: two-state forward/backward parity against the reference chain, dispatch follows the flag, no-projection fallback, the production path that never runs the prepare hook, and packed-shape + fold-product verification. The full file is green in both flag states (42 passed + 1 skipped, 47 subtests).

Summary by CodeRabbit
New Features
Added an optional packed radial-head inference mode, enabled with DP_RADIAL_HEAD_PACKED_INFER. For compatible configurations, it combines inference calculations while preserving output and gradient behavior.
Training and configurations that do not meet the requirements continue to use the existing inference path.
Inference can optionally combine the radial hidden projection and degree mixer into a folded weight. Eligible inputs use the packed computation and materialize only the consumed (l=0) feature rows. Other inputs retain the existing projection-then-mixer path.

Summary
Feature flag and packed-weight preparation deepmd/pt_expt/kernels/utils.py, deepmd/pt_expt/kernels/triton/sezm/so2_value_path.py
Adds use_radial_head_packed() and nonpersistent buffers for folded weights. Weight preparation caches folded weights when the required modules and dimensions are present.
Inference selection, computation, and validation deepmd/pt_expt/kernels/triton/sezm/so2_value_path.py, source/tests/pt/model/test_descriptor_sezm_triton.py
Uses packed weights when enabled and when input conditions match. Otherwise, it retains the existing computation. GPU tests compare outputs and gradients, check feature shapes and packed-weight contractions, and verify fallback behavior.
Inference without the preparation hook may be slower than intended. The issue is bounded and can be fixed or accepted as a follow-up.

Explanation
The title names the main change: folding the radial hidden projection into the degree-mixer weight for inference, gated by DP_RADIAL_HEAD_PACKED_INFER. The raw summary and PR objectives both describe this fold as the core change, and the title's 'perf(pt)' prefix matches the PyTorch-side scope. The title is specific, uses no file lists or vague terms, and a teammate scanning history would understand the primary change.

Cache weights after lazy packing.
When evaluation does not run the prepare hook, every call recomputes weff. This path never stores packed, so repeated inference pays for the fold and its allocation on every frame. Cache the result after the first eligible call, with the same invalidation rules as prepared weights. (raw.githubusercontent.com)
