Adds fluent builders for the remaining validation rules, including conditional presence rules, confirmation fields, URL protocols, UUID versions and date equality. Parameterized rules retain their values during parsing, including commas and pipes, while preserving Hypervel's existing CSV quoting and immutable date behavior.
The builders work with Data's field-name mapping, conditional required fields, distinct checks and collection validation. Existing Data attributes now retain multiple conditional values and exclusion fields, support custom confirmation fields, and accept explicit date field references. Validator::sometimes() also accepts rule objects directly.
Dependent validation now preserves literal comparison values and database constraints while resolving wildcard field references. Conditional builders and Data attributes also retain numeric precision, avoiding rounded comparisons that can silently change which conditions match.
Scalar builder definitions reuse the existing bounded compiled-plan cache. Cached plans store values rather than mutable builder objects, preserving plan reuse for array validation without keeping caller-owned objects alive. Custom executable rules remain uncached, and validator subclass hooks retain their original objects.
Includes rule-builder documentation and regression coverage for Data integration, structured parameters, cache reuse and mutation safety. Formatting, static analysis and the affected Validation and Data suites pass.
Note
Add fluent validation rule builders to Rule class
Adds a ParameterizedRule contract in ParameterizedRule.php and ~40 rule builder classes under src/validation/src/Rules/, exposed via new static factories on Rule (e.g. Rule::confirmed(), Rule::ip(), Rule::uuid(), Rule::regex()) plus string factories for simple rules like required and prohibited
Rule builders serialize to their array form via toArray(); the parser, plan cache, compiler, and normalizer all accept ParameterizedRule input. The plan cache keys on scalar toArray() values, so builders are not retained after caching, and cached plans survive later builder mutation
Fixes dependent-parameter resolution in Validator via replaceFieldsInParameters: only parameters before a per-rule literal offset are treated as field references, so trailing comparison values (asterisks, escaped dots, percent signs) stay literal. Percent signs are no longer treated as vsprintf markers in replaceAsterisksInParameters
Extends data-object validation attributes (AcceptedIf, Confirmed, DateEquals, ExcludeIf, etc.) to accept multiple comparison values, custom fields, and FieldReference dates, and widens Validator::sometimes to accept an object as rules
Added fluent validation rule builders for conditional, presence, exclusion, array, regex, and other common rules, with support for configurable fields, values, and options.
Validation now accepts rule objects directly, including in conditional validation, and supports more flexible parameters for several rules.
Added guidance and examples for using fluent validation rules and referencing fields.
Bug Fixes
Improved handling of literal comparison values, wildcard and percent characters, and floating-point precision in validation rules.
Port Laravel framework PR #61833 at
dc3455f165ea77d793d3a738b1a28bbae41a9c35, reconciled with the frozen
13.x source target 5d7797528723107cd4f495326838a7d7d67fbb20.
Add the remaining Rule factories, parameterized builders, Date::equals,
and structured parsing without reducing parameter values to strings.
Preserve Hypervel's native types, CSV quoting and immutable date behavior.
Integrate structured rules with Data's presence and distinct checks,
field-reference mapping and collection rule comparison. Extend the
existing conditional attributes to retain multiple comparison values,
ExcludeWithout to retain multiple fields, Confirmed to accept a custom
field, and DateEquals to accept an explicit FieldReference. Allow rule
objects in Validator::sometimes and its contract.
Reuse the existing bounded compiled-plan cache for builders containing
only scalar values. Base plans keep parsed values rather than mutable
builder objects; subclass hooks retain their original rule objects.
Executable and non-scalar rules remain uncached. This preserves plan
reuse for expanded array fields without adding another cache mechanism.
Port the corresponding validation documentation from Laravel docs
73e61270287e4aaa1cecd77cd66aa6ef4f499828 and clarify Data's mapped field
references versus literal rules returned by hooks.
Validation: every changed test file, the complete Validation suite,
Data's validation support suite and ValidationTest, formatting, and full
source/type/skeleton static analysis pass. Regression coverage verifies
conditional presence, mapped builder parameters, finished-item distinct
checks, plan reuse, mutation isolation and builder release. Final cache
guard simplification passes its test file and targeted analysis.
Quick idle-machine comparisons show reusable builders reducing validation
time by roughly 17-26%, including four independent worker processes.
Continuously changing rules add about 0.04 ms per 20-field validation;
cache growth remains bounded by the existing limit.

High-Level Assessment
The following are alternative approaches to this PR:
1. Serialize every builder to a rule string
➕ Smaller parser and cache changes.
➖ Risks splitting literal commas or pipes and losing structured parameter boundaries.
2. Introduce a separate builder-plan cache
➕ Could isolate builder-specific cache policy.
➖ Duplicates bounded-cache machinery and complicates plan reuse across rule forms.
Recommendation: Keep structured parsing and reuse the existing bounded cache. Storing scalar values rather than caller-owned builders addresses parameter fidelity and mutation safety without another cache; executable rules should remain uncached.
1. Custom rules run built-in validation 🐞 Bug≡ Correctness
Description
ValidationRuleParser::parse() converts a rule implementing both ParameterizedRule and the legacy
Rule contract to an array before checking the executable rule contract. When such a rule is used,
validateAttribute() receives a keyword instead of the rule object, so it invokes the built-in
validation method rather than the object's passes() method.
+ if ($rule instanceof ParameterizedRule) {+ $rule = $rule->toArray();+ }
Evidence
The two interfaces can be implemented together. The new parsing branch runs before the existing
RuleContract branch, and validation dispatches to the custom rule only when the parsed rule
remains a RuleContract object.
The issue below was found during a code review. Follow the provided context and guidance below and implement a solution
## Issue description
A rule implementing both `ParameterizedRule` and the legacy executable `Rule` contract is parsed as a built-in keyword, bypassing its `passes()` method.
## Fix Focus Areas
- src/validation/src/ValidationRuleParser.php[386-395]
- src/validation/src/Validator.php[1121-1169]
## Recommended Fix
Check executable rule contracts before converting a `ParameterizedRule` to its array representation. Add a regression test for a dual-interface rule whose `passes()` result differs from the built-in keyword returned by `toArray()`.

RulePlanCache::cacheKey() admits an object implementing both ParameterizedRule and the
executable Rule contract whenever its toArray() values are scalar. RuleCompiler::compileRule()
then places that original object in a cached plan, retaining its caller-owned state across requests
until the worker evicts the plan.
Cache eligibility checks the new interface first, whereas compilation checks the independently
implementable executable contract first and retains that object. The base validator stores the
resulting plan in a static worker-lifetime cache.
The issue below was found during a code review. Follow the provided context and guidance below and implement a solution
## Issue description
The worker-lifetime cache accepts dual-interface executable rules and retains their original objects in compiled plans.
## Fix Focus Areas
- src/validation/src/RulePlanCache.php[117-129]
- src/validation/src/RuleCompiler.php[116-125]
## Recommended Fix
Reject executable rule contracts before considering an object for scalar structured-rule caching. Test that a dual-interface rule never enters the plan cache, while ordinary scalar builders remain cacheable.

Dependent-rule normalization treated every parameter as a field path.
That replaced literal asterisks with array indexes, encoded escaped dots
inside comparison values and database constraints, and interpreted percent
signs as sprintf syntax. Conditional rules could silently miss their
condition, unique checks could query the wrong scope, and valid values
could raise formatting errors.
Share field-parameter normalization between ordinary validation and
exclusion pre-evaluation. Preserve string conversion for literal tails,
but limit field rewriting to the reference portion of each conditional
rule and the first four Unique parameters. Other dependent rules retain
their existing behavior and extension signatures. Escape literal percent
signs before introducing wildcard placeholders.
Regression tests cover each affected conditional rule, both execution
paths, early exclusions, array-form scalar semantics, percent-bearing
field names and Unique constraints alongside wildcard ignore IDs.
The new cases reproduce skipped validation and formatting errors before
the correction and pass afterward.
Validation: formatting, full source/type/skeleton analysis, the Validation
suite, Data validation support and Data ValidationTest pass.
String casts round floats before comparison, so conditional builders can
skip a condition even when its input equals the supplied numeric value.
AcceptedIf already retained finite precision through JSON encoding, but
JSON failures turned non-finite values into false and could activate a
condition against an empty input.
Use one conditional-value formatter across the six builders. Keep the
explicit null and boolean spellings, preserve finite float precision with
JSON encoding, and retain literal non-finite representations when JSON
cannot encode them. Keep positional parameters for keyed value arrays.
Data's rule denormalizer now preserves float precision at its own shared
conversion boundary as well.
Tests cover matching computed floats and numeric strings, distinct values
that previously matched after rounding, non-finite values, and precise
Data attribute parameters. Existing upstream tests remain unchanged.
Validation: all changed test files, the complete Validation suite, Data
validation support and Data ValidationTest pass, along with formatting
and full source/type/skeleton static analysis.

Avoid the (string) fallback for non-finite floats.
This is the same defect as in FormatsParameters::formatConditionalValues(). For NAN, INF and -INF, json_encode() returns false, and the (string) $parameter fallback runs. PHP 8.5 emits a warning for this cast. Map non-finite values to NAN, INF and -INF explicitly, or share one helper with the builders.

Fixed in 8e50d89. Data now returns the explicit NAN spelling before JSON/string conversion. Finite precision and infinity output are preserved, with NAN and INF cases added to the existing parameter provider. The affected tests pass without warnings on PHP 8.4 and in the PHP 8.5 CI image.

Avoid casting non-finite floats to string. PHP 8.5 emits a warning.
For NAN, INF and -INF, json_encode() returns false. The ?: (string) $value fallback then runs the cast. The CI log for PHP 8.5 reports "unexpected NAN value was coerced to string" at this line. The warning fires each time a conditional builder holds a non-finite value. Under a strict error handler, the warning can become an exception.
Return the literal names explicitly. This keeps the same output as the old string cast: NAN, INF, -INF. Guard each arm with is_float(), because match (true) evaluates the arms in order and is_nan() rejects strings.
RuleDenormalizer::normalizeRuleParameter() uses the same json_encode($parameter) ?: (string) $parameter fallback. Apply the same fix there, or extract one shared helper.

I also checked the current PR description. It covers the behavior, adaptations, regression coverage, and reported verification. I withdraw the external-contribution template warning. No description change is needed for that concern.

PHP 8.5 warns when NAN is cast to a string. The non-finite fallback in
conditional rule builders and Data parameters used that cast, and the
regression test repeated it while constructing its expected value.
Return the explicit NAN spelling before attempting JSON/string conversion.
Keep finite precision and the existing infinity output unchanged. Use
literal expected values for NAN and both infinities, and cover Data's NAN
and infinity conversion through its existing parameter provider. Comments
explain why both the explicit NAN case and the fallback are needed.
Reproduced the two CI warnings in the PHP 8.5 CI image before the fix.
Both affected test files now pass there without warnings; PHP 8.4 checks,
targeted source analysis, formatting and diff checks also pass.
The generated description’s parse-error claim is incorrect: FormatsParameters.php contains no stray +, passes php -l, and loads successfully in the PHP 8.4 and 8.5 validation suites. Removed that sentence from the description; no code change is needed.

Adds fluent builders for the remaining validation rules, including conditional presence rules, confirmation fields, URL protocols, UUID versions and date equality. Parameterized rules retain their values during parsing, including commas and pipes, while preserving Hypervel's existing CSV quoting and immutable date behavior.
The builders work with Data's field-name mapping, conditional required fields, distinct checks and collection validation. Existing Data attributes now retain multiple conditional values and exclusion fields, support custom confirmation fields, and accept explicit date field references.
Validator::sometimes()also accepts rule objects directly.Dependent validation now preserves literal comparison values and database constraints while resolving wildcard field references. Conditional builders and Data attributes also retain numeric precision, avoiding rounded comparisons that can silently change which conditions match.
Scalar builder definitions reuse the existing bounded compiled-plan cache. Cached plans store values rather than mutable builder objects, preserving plan reuse for array validation without keeping caller-owned objects alive. Custom executable rules remain uncached, and validator subclass hooks retain their original objects.
Includes rule-builder documentation and regression coverage for Data integration, structured parameters, cache reuse and mutation safety. Formatting, static analysis and the affected Validation and Data suites pass.
