There is no vimrc or whatever settings. It is fresh installation, without any manual configuration.
How was MacVim launched?
- by launching MacVim.app in macOS (by using the Dock, Spotlight, or the
opencommand) - by running mvim/gvim in the terminal
Issue has been tested with clean configuration
- by running
mvim --clean(orgvim, supplied by MacVim distribution). You can also use the File → "New Clean Window" menu item within MacVim. - by running
vim --clean(in terminal, supplied by MacVim distribution) - by running
vim --clean(in terminal, other suppliers, e.g. /usr/bin/vim)

It crashes exactly like the original reported mentions: all the commands run in terminal are killed with SIG 9. In my case it was after a brew upgrade to 9.2.0321, not a fresh install, but the results are the same.

The binary dmg package downloaded from the macvim.org site works fine, even from the command line - this probably points to something in the brew formula.

Problem confirmed. It is the problem of the
stripcommand from brew's binutils.It was the

MacVim_10.9.dmgworks just fine. Only installing frombrew install macvimresults in crashes withzsh: killed vim.I tried to build from the source code, and resulted in the same crashes as
zsh: killed vim. Then I found that the vim executable file was corrupted because thestripcommand from brew's binutils destroyed thevimbinary file. Then I tried to edit the Makefile to use the macOS's default strip (STRIP = /usr/bin/strip). Then I rebuilt vim, and everything worked fine.I've reported this bug to: Homebrew/homebrew-core#296569

What about this pull request? It forces to use the macOS's default strip, instead of brew's binutils's strip. Since brew is not going to fix this bug, only forcing macOS's default strip can solve the problem.

I'd report to homebrew project itself, as it may silently affect other applications or has to cover a corner case they haven't covered yet.

adhoc signing is widely used including Xcode. for example. the problem could be in how homebrew signs their libraries and a subtle change in the overall process could lead to such issues.
