What it does

  • While a release newer than the installed one is out and the Updates page hasn't shown it yet, a small white dot sits on the avatar's top right (ringed in black) and after "Updates" on the You page. It's the strap chip's dot size.
  • Opening the Updates page, from the row or the notification, saves the newest release as seen (update_seen_tag), so both dots go and stay gone across restarts. A later release brings them back.
  • TalkBack reads the avatar as "You, a new version is ready" while the dot shows.

Testing

  • All 1017 unit tests pass, including a new Releases.waiting test.
  • Checked on the Fold's cover screen with a build labelled 2.0.0: the dot on Today's avatar and on the Updates row, then both gone after opening the Updates page.

A small white dot, the strap chip's size, shows while a newer release
is out that the Updates page hasn't shown yet. Opening the page marks
the newest release seen (kept in settings), so the dots go and come
back only for a later release.
